We Need Clean, Renewable Energy

I heard something a few days ago that was almost unbelievable. Had it not come from the mouth of a political, it would have been much more shocking.

The man was speaking on global warming, imported oil and other things pertaining to energy. What was so misleading was the fact that the guy said we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and move to other 'clean' forms of producing energy such as NUCLEAR!!

Now, I'm not really an expert on anything, but I'm pretty sure that in the big picture producing energy using nuclear methods is going to prove a big mistake. I recently saw a news story on the waste being generated by all of the nuclear power plants. The amounts we have on hand now is staggering. Stored virtually all over the country.

Obviously, at some point this waste has to be dealt with. The big plan now on the table is to dig a big hole and bury it. Out of site, out of mind, right ? As most people know, the waste remains radioactive and deadly for tens of thousands of years.

Also, using todays numbers, the cost of disposing of the waste in a big hole is going to cost 60 billion dollars. Of course I'm sure that by the time we get around to actually doing it, the costs will be much more.

We've just got a new president elected as of this writing (Obama). I sure hope some more forward thinking individuals start making some ideas soon...very soon!!

Welcome to My New Blog on Solar and Wind Energy

Hi,

Welcome to my new blog about alternative energy. It's something I believe i very strongly, and a topic that I believe needs to be promoted as much as possible.

Global warming is, or at least should be a warning for us, an indicator that we need to act now and start taking the steps necessary to begin to turn things around and save this planet before it's too late.

I know it's easy to live life as you always have, taking much for granted. However, things have changed. We don't live under the same terms as we have since the dawn of man. Our ignorance (not stupidity) of what we were doing to our global ecosystem has finally caught up with us.

The question now is this - are we going to do the things that we need to, or will we ignore the obvious and keep going as we always have until we make the planet virtually uninhabitable ?

Now is the time to act. Please, do your part to help. If we all just take a few smart measures daily, that will be enough to begin to reverse the damage that we've done, or at least slow any further damage.

We owe it to ourselves, but we owe it even more to our children and the generations yet to come. They didn't cause this problem, why burden them with it ?
